Running west toward New Mexico

After leaving Davy Crockett and the legend of Fiery Gizzard behind, I rambled across Middle and Western Tennessee (with Memphis besties) and through Arkansas.
In Arkansas I spent a few days in Lake Ouachita State Park outside of Hot Springs. A beautiful 40,000-acre CCC-made lake surrounded by National Forest and woodland creatures. Swimming, boating, kayaking, and fishing are enjoyed here. Bream, striped bass, and largemouth bass can be (but alas, were not) caught in open waters or quiet coves. (Believe you me, much more time here will be put into the future calendar).
I pulled up stakes in Arkansas and headed for a few days in Oklahoma. The State Park I had booked to stay in Oklahoma was a big disappointment, so I pushed on to Amarillo Texas, where I turned south for Carlsbad New Mexico. I was excited about getting to see the Carlsbad Cavern National Park.
I'm afraid that the only thing I remember about the stretch of interstate 40 between the Arkansas border and Amarillo TX was the wind, windmills and the long horn cattle. I remember the wind because I drive a 19ft long x 6ft wide x 10ft high LEGO-block shaped house, it really aint very aerodynamic.
After a long lonely drive south from Amarillo, weaving back and forth across the Texas/New Mexico border, I arrived in Carlsbad New Mexico. I stayed in a state park there and stopped by the local pub to get good tips for planning my next destinations.
Headed on to Carlsbad Caverns and then White Sands!

Those are some fine photos of flowers and longhorn. And very much Lake Ouachita!
