Dad and Macie approve of the RV

Yesterday I joined the throngs of Black Friday shoppers on the road and took the RV out for its first open-road adventure. I drove over to Venice, FL on the gulf coast to see my Dad and Judy (and of course to play with their dog Macie).
Starting out early in the morning I really enjoyed sitting up high in the van with the sunlight streaming through the windshield. It was easy to imagine how great the rocky mountains will look from that vantage point. Plus, it is always nice to look down on other cars and drivers, literally.
The van drove like a Mercedes, it was more responsive and accelerated better than I had expected. I do have to remind myself that it's ~10,000 pounds moving at speed, so it won't stop on a dime or even a dollar. The current laws about momentum and inertia do seem to apply, so we're still practicing the finer points of speed management.
I did fill up the tank for the first time ($85!?!) so we'll have to put a new line item in the travel budget. Joe asked where my first adventure would take me, I replied "anywhere with hills". Spent the week working on getting the rig travel ready: installed floor covering, set up drinking water fill, tested shore power adapters and figured out the control panels. Still working on: kitchen set up, mastering the bells and whistles on the MBUX and using the inverter.
Next outing planned for next weekend I think, New Smyrna Beach is calling.
Just to save the next person some time...
MBUX stands for Mercedes-Benz User Experience — which is what [M-B] calls its advanced multimedia infotainment (media and navigation) system. ... It can be controlled via voice and touch input and is fitted to several of the firm's models, having launched in 2018 on the Mercedes-Benz A-Class.

The MBUX Voice Control can turn on seat heating and even activate your seat's massage function.
Ha, ha -- Maria gets to RTFM! 😂
