Boy does time fly away when you're not tracking Zoom calls and client deliverables!
For the last 6 weeks I've been farting around in Florida dialing-in Rosievan and waiting for the weather elsewhere to get a little bit warmer. Rosievan projects have included some critical elements like an oil change and fixing a problem with the seating of the steering column. Less critical elements have included things like hanging a paper towel holder, installing a sliding door stop, testing out the bed and adding shelving to the pantry.
My friend Gaile was here for a week in early January. We took the van for another run to the beach at New Smyrna. It was a beautiful day weather-wise, punctuated by some really yummy open-air tacos. There's nothing better than beach sand in your van. Oh, right, I need to get a little vacuum to suck up such stuff.
Yesterday I took my Dad fishing in Sarasota Bay. I arranged for a charter ride aboard the boat: "High Class Hooker", at least that's what the credit card bill said. My book-keeper asked for some guidance on classifying that one. Luckily the calm and sunny weather I had ordered with the charter arrived on time - threading the needle between two cold fronts. Sitting on a bench seat in the bow, Dad and I had nothing to worry about except enjoying the chauffeured ride from fishing spot to fishing spot. The water-front mansions on Sarasota Bay were something else. We caught four or five Sheepsheads (sort of an ocean perch) which made very fine fish tacos last night for dinner.
When Dad lived in Alabama there was a local fishing report on the news at night. The reporter ended the report each night saying: "Take your kids fishing so that when you're older, they'll take you fishing". Seems like it has worked for us! We'll do another charter trip when the water warms up a bit. Next time I hope to take my uncle and cousin along with us.
Two dear friends arrive Monday from NYC and we're taking Rosievan out of state for the first time. I'll be headed to Savannah for 4-5 days then on to Hilton Head and then up to Ashville, NC until early March. More adventures to come!
I am so glad the fishing trip produced dinner, I mean, fish! And the charter guide did the cleaning, I hope?
